NRS Dura Soft Cooler

For anyone that travels, camps, kayaks, etc.  these NRS Dura Soft Coolers are fantastic.  I own two of them, a small and a large.  The large one can be packed with items needed for vacations such as clothing and be used as checked baggage for your flights, then used as a cooler when you reach your destination.  The smaller ones can be easily packed into your luggage.

They're leakproof and can be packed with ice, they're washable and the best part is the liners are replaceable if by chance they tear.

They come in four different sizes, 6 pack, small, 30 can and large.  Inner and outer dimensions as well as weight can be found here.

Club MoBay

Hearing and reading about so many positive reviews of Club MoBay Departure Lounge (Fast Track Service at Sangsters International Airport, Jamaica), my husband and I decided to pay the $30.00 each and give it a try.  It was so worth it because it made going through airport immigration and security a complete breeze.

If anyone enjoys shopping as much as I, there's nothing worse than dragging your bags around the shopping area of the airport, but the staff at Club MoBay will hold your bags so you can shop suitcase free.
All alcoholic beverages and food is included while you wait and they'll call out your flight and flight number when it's time to depart. I'd highly recommend Club MoBay to anyone traveling to Jamaica.  I'd also recommend tipping the bar staff or wait staff. If you use Club MoBay arrival, then I'd also recommend tipping the person who greets you and walks you through the service.

A Stroll Down The Hip Strip In Montego Bay, Jamaica

1/10/2014

While staying at the Carlyle Inn, Ed and I decided that we were craving some well known Jamaican Jerk chicken and pork at The Pork Pit.  So we put on some comfortable walking shoes, got prepared for our most polite "No Thank-Yous" and off to the "Hip Strip" we went.  From the Carlyle Inn, we took a left, the walk to restaurant is about 20 minutes or so.

As soon as we left, the salesmen and women were right on us, but they do handle a very polite no thank-you very well, they are after all just trying to make a living.  Anyone who plans to take a stroll such as we did, has to expect some pushy sales people and need to learn how to handle it without being fearful and getting stressed.   The shop owners will ask you to visit their shops, but if you don't want to, just say "No Thanks".   If you decide to browse in these shops, then do so.    Another tip is to never tell them  "another time or not today" is equal to making them a promise that you'll be back, and they don't forget, honesty is key.  There are Jamaican on Stilts, a few bucks will get you a nice picture with them.  Do keep in mind that the Hip Strip is very safe and there are Tourist Police at  just about every half a block or so.

When we finally made it to The Pork Pit, the walk was well worth it.  The Chicken and Pork was just simply wonderful and cooked perfectly.  We ordered 1/4 Pork, 1/4 Chicken and Two bottles of water, the price was around $12.95  There are two different sauces to put on the side of your meal, one being a bit spicier than  the other, but they are both delicious.
We enjoyed it so much that we asked another couple who we met at the resort to join us the next day.  They also agreed that it was well worth the walk.

There is an hourly free Sandals shuttle bus from Sandals Mobay and Sandals Royal Caribbean to Sandals Carlyle, so for anyone who is staying at those two resorts, just take the bus to the Carlyle, visit the Hip Strip, then take the bus back to either resort you're staying at.

Our 2013 Mid December in Jamaica

My husband and I spent five days at the very affordable all-inclusive Sandal's Carlyle Inn in Montego Bay, Jamaica.  The Carlyle is considered more of a Bed and Breakfast, with all the amenities that Sandals Resorts are known for. The service, food, cleanliness and comfort of the rooms as always was wonderful.  There is a is a public beach across the street where the local people like to enjoy time with the families and the snorkeling there was pretty awesome (water shoes recommended).  With the pay at one, play at three Sandals exchange, we split days between the Carlyle, Sandals Montego Bay and Royal Caribbean.  We enjoyed them equally as much as the Carlyle Inn.
